Over the September long weekend, our family was visiting and we wanted to have a nice big meal. We ended up cooking ribs on the smoker, baked beans, mac and cheese, and a really tasty string bean recipe - yes that's two bean dishes in the same meal!
String beans are tasty no matter what, just boil them and add butter and I love them! But after taking it up a notch with this recipe, I am not sure I can go back to just butter. Besides the taste, I love how quick this recipe comes together and how it only uses one dish!
You can use any coloured beans you want! The ones pictured above are actually purple beans - but they turn green when you cook them (I've always been a little disappointed about that haha). So feel free to use green, purple, yellow, or a mix!
Let's get to it!
Smoky String Bean Recipe
Pre time: 5 min
Cook time: 10 min
Servings: 6
Ingredients
1 lb of beans
5 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
1/4 cup of water
1 tsp of smoked paprika
1 tbsp of olive oil
salt & pepper to taste
Directions
Wash your beans and snap off the tips. Peel and slice your garlic thinly.
Heat a frying pan and add water, bring to a boil.
Add beans to the pan and cover them with a cover or a cookie sheet pan.
Leave the beans to cook for 3 minutes. Remove the lid, the water should be almost gone.
Add olive oil and garlic and mix together. Cook until garlic is fragrant, about 2 mins.
Remove from heat, add in the paprika, salt and pepper, mix together.
Serve & enjoy!
